This recording is a Tapialai song that was performed as the initiated men come out of 8 days in the bush at Nidok, the Initiation stage where knowledge about the Tubuan Society is learnt. This song is accompanied by malangene na tabaran (spirit dances). After each footstep a deep guttural sound is expressed in unison. This stamping was given the name Rurua. The tubuan for this dance is ToRurua. The Tubuan Society is secret (pidik). Its power lies in its artistry of deception and the unsaid.
