Kids long nambis are playing. First half they put the dots on the sand, second half they remove them. This song is dedicated to Nerrie and Gideon’s mother, Lailak IaKaru, who was a founding member of one of the first women’s rights group in the Pacific, Nilai Ra Varden. Lailak wrote that women should live in freedom from fear “akini langlanga ta ra bunurut” and these words were enshrined in the constitution. They joined forces with the Mataungan Association, The Warbete Kivung in Rabaul, to fight for land rights, and self governance in the lead up to independence in 1975. Rosa Tokiel, Lailak's younger sister was the president. Desi Iatul designed the provincial flag.
